How Does Buenos De-Ice Work?
The system is relatively simple in that it passes electric power through resistive heaters to produce heat which prevents ice from sticking to the surface of the heater. Heater shapes are designed to provide protection of the airfoils for both the main wing and the horizontal tail. Power is provided by a dedicated alternator that is driven by the engine (mounting brackets not included). The alternator output is controlled by solid state components that direct power to each heater and also maintain control of the alternator.
Each heater zone incorporates a core of resistive materials that do not break down under electrical load cycles. These materials also generate heat in a consistent pattern across the span of the heater. The result is a lightweight, dependable and durable ice protection system for your airplane.

When is Buenos De-Ice Used?
The system is intended to be used to protect the airplane during an inadvertent icing encounter. Flying in clouds when the outside air temperature is at or near freezing exposes the airplane to the possibility of ice attaching to the leading edges of the flying surfaces. Just as we use pitot heat to ensure we have accurate airspeed indication while in IMC, Buenos Deice provides a method of keeping the wing and horizontal tail working properly.
How Much Does Buenos De-Ice Cost?
Buenos De-Ice can be ordered for introductory price of Buenos De-Ice is $16,970. Notifications of shipment is made from Buenos Technologies.
How Is Buenos De-Ice Installed?
Installation of the system is not included in the price, and installing the system can be done by the airplane owner or your favorite build assist/maintenance center. Installing the system is somewhat involved and requires care to ensure that the system will not encounter service difficulties due to poor electrical connections or short circuits. The projected installation time for Buenos De-Ice is 150 hours. During installation, the installer will be required to design and fabricate an alternator support system that works on that specific installation. The installer will also make choices about the on/off selector switch (switch not included) to match their existing instrument panel equipment.
